13. Arbeitstreffen der GI-Fachgruppe "Intelligente Lehr-/Lernsysteme"
Expressive Media and Intelligent Tools for Learning
Content:
In recent years new developments in both hardware and software, such as
wireless networking, interactive and wearable displays, sophisticated
graphical environments etc., opened vast opportunities for innovative
learning environments both for groups and individuals.
In this workshop we want to explore how expressive media together with
methods from artificial intelligence can help to enrich the learning
environments of today and tomorrow.
With this explicitly wide thematical scope the special interest group of GI
"Intelligent Teaching and Learning Systems" (Intelligente Lehr-/Lernsysteme)
that will be organizing this workshop wants to show the potential of using
artificial intelligence for innovative learning scenarios and technologies,
because up to now systems based on these new technologies tend to be either
technology-driven (e.g. virtual environments that do not support knowledge
communication) or focussed on delivery of learning content (e.g. static
web-based learning material).
Learning approaches still focus too much on static media instead of
flexibly integrating expressive media and intelligent tools for learning.
Especially for analysing activities, supporting reflection and learning
processes, and semantic access to learning material AI methods will be of
special interest.
